Last Home Bout of 2011-2012 Season

LIVE ROLLER DERBY IN THE OHIO VALLEY

The local Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby League, the Ohio Valley Roller Girls (OVRG), will be hosting their last home bouts of the season this upcoming weekend, May 19 and 20, at the James E. Carnes Center in St. Clairsville, OH.  Saturday, the OVRG All Stars travel team will face off against the Morgantown Roller Vixens from Morgantown, WV.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the game will begin at 7:00 p.m.  On Sunday, the league will host two of its interleague teams, the Roll Miners and the Death House Dames.  Doors will open at 4:00 p.m., and the game will start at 5:00 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance at Hot Rod Tattooing, Swan’s Sport Shop in St. Clairsville, the Gateway Room, and at the door on game days.

This roller derby season has been an exciting one for the OVRG All Stars, who currently have a 6-1 winning season. The All Stars also have two upcoming away bouts scheduled.  On June 16, the All Stars will be traveling to Charleston, WV, where they will be taking on the Chemical Valley Roller Girls at the Charleston Civic Center.  On July 21, the All Stars will be traveling to Erie, PA, to play against the Eerie Roller Girls.

OVRG will be holding a Fresh Meat Boot Camp for potential new skaters on May 22, at the Martins Ferry Recreational Center.  During the boot camp, skaters will learn the basic skills necessary to try out for the OVRG.  If any potential skaters do not have proper equipment, OVRG will have some available for skaters to borrow during the camp.  Anyone interested in skating with the league who would like to reserve a spot at our next boot camp, as well as anyone interested in joining the league as a volunteer, please contact our recruitment committee at recruitment@ohiovalleyrollergirls.com.
