Fall Wrap Up

It has been an exciting fall for the Ohio Valley Roller Girls, starting with the fantastic news that they were accepted as full member of WFTDA, the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.  OVRG worked very hard to complete the WFTDA Apprentice Program, and are very pleased to finally have their pink patches!

In mid-September the OVRG All-Stars took on Ohio Roller Girls Gang Green.  Having met Gang Green in the past and being unsuccessful; the All-Stars brought their A-Game.  Solid blocking and hard hitting from both teams made this bout very exciting from start to finish.  This time OVRG emerged victorious.

October brought another familiar opponent: the Little Steel Derby Girls from Youngstown, Ohio.   Fresh off of their victory against Gang Green, the OVRG All-Stars came out with a vengeance.  Some outstanding jamming from jammers Dorian Slay, Lorena Vomit, Gnarly Manson, and Flux Decapitator gave OVRG a big victory over LSDG.

Finally, on November 7, OVRG traveled to State College, PA to play in their first ever WFTDA-sanctioned bout against the State College Area Rollers.  Once again, hard hitting and strong blocking helped to bring the All-Stars another hard-fought victory.

All of this has been in preparation for River Valley Riot 2015, coming up on November 21st and 22nd.  Eight teams, twelve bouts, one winner.  Bouts start at 10 am on Saturday, and your Ohio Valley Roller Girls play their first game at 2 pm.  Come early, stay late and enjoy an entire weekend of roller derby!
